Updated Draft, June 2026
Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs what may be sent through SendByte, operated by Echospectra Technology Limited. It exists for one reason: email reputation is shared infrastructure. One sender’s abuse hurts deliverability for everyone on the platform, so we enforce this policy firmly. The AUP is part of our Terms of Service.
1. You must have permission to email your recipients
Only send to people who have given you a lawful basis to contact them, such as signing up, making a purchase, or otherwise opting in. You may not send to purchased, rented, scraped, or harvested address lists. You must honor unsubscribe and opt-out requests promptly, and bulk messages must include a working one-click unsubscribe.
2. Prohibited content and behavior
You may not use SendByte to send, host, or facilitate:
- Spam: unsolicited bulk or commercial email.
- Phishing or fraud: messages that impersonate a person or brand, or try to deceive recipients into revealing credentials, payment details, or other sensitive information.
- Malware: viruses, ransomware, or links to malicious software.
- Illegal content: anything unlawful under applicable law, including content that infringes intellectual property, promotes terrorism, or sexually exploits minors.
- Harassment or hate: threats, harassment, or content inciting violence or hatred against people or groups.
- Deceptive routing: forged headers, falsified sender identity, or other attempts to disguise the origin of a message.
3. Sending practices
- Use accurate “from” names and addresses on domains you are authorized to use and have verified.
- Keep your lists clean. High bounce rates and spam complaints harm everyone; we monitor them and may act on them.
- Do not attempt to bypass the suppression list, rate limits, quotas, or other technical controls.
- Do not use the Service to test or send to addresses you have no relationship with for the purpose of validating them (“list washing”).
4. Technical abuse
Do not attempt to overwhelm, probe, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, gain unauthorized access, or use the Service to attack any third party.
5. How we enforce
We monitor for abuse signals including bounce rate, complaint rate, blocklist activity, and content patterns. Depending on severity we may warn you, throttle or pause sending, require remediation, suspend, or terminate your account. For serious or ongoing abuse, or anything that threatens the platform’s reputation or other customers, we may act immediately and without prior notice. We may also report unlawful activity to authorities.
Bounce and complaint thresholds we watch (and that protect your own deliverability): bounce rate above roughly 2% and spam-complaint rate above roughly 0.08% trigger alerts and review.
6. Reporting abuse
If you receive spam or abusive mail sent through SendByte, report it to abuse@sendbyte.africa with the full message including headers. We investigate every report.
7. Changes
We may update this AUP as abuse patterns evolve. The current version is always published here.
